CHARLOTTESVILLE, April 26, 2019. According to Virginia Lawyers Weekly, Virginia Supreme Court Chief Justice Donald W. Lemons has encouraged all Virginia lawyers to participate in pro bono service and report their contributions. Lemons hopes to gather more reliable data on this important effort and increase pro bono representation in Virginia.
The article also mentions the Virginia Law Foundation’s Pro Bono Library, which offers assistance to attorneys dedicated to filling the “justice gap” by engaging in pro bono service. Created with the Virginia Access to Justice Commission, the Pro Bono Library provides free access to over 450 on-demand online seminars and accompanying written materials to assist in specific pro bono cases. The Virginia State Bar named the Pro Bono Library the #3 Virginia Access to Justice Achievement of 2018.
