The Virginia Law Foundation mourns the loss of Michael L. Rigsby (Fellows Class of 2010) who passed away earlier this week. A Fellow, donor, and member of our 1974 Society (along with his wife, Linda), Mr. Rigsby spent much of his life dedicated to Virginia’s legal community. He was Bar Counsel for the Virginia State Bar from 1977 to 1997, after which time he returned to private practice. He was also a past President of the National Organization of Bar Counsel, a former Adjunct Professor at the University of Richmond School of Law, and a frequent lecturer on the subjects of ethics, professional responsibility, and legal malpractice. Mr. Rigsby’s contributions to the Commonwealth and the Virginia Law Foundation will not be forgotten and our hearts go out to all those who knew him.
